R&D Solicitor - Advert
- Pay band 8a
- Term: 37.5 hours for 12 months
Everyone in Christie Research works towards the same goal: improving access to clinical trials for patients with cancer. Research here at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is managed through robust governance measures. Key amongst these is the negotiation of contracts which allow the Trust to control risk and protect the interest of patients. The delivery of contracts in good time is also essential for securing sustainable funding from commercial, charitable and public sources.
We are looking for someone who has excellent commercial contracting skills and is enthusiastic about supporting cancer research undertaken at the Trust. The role will support the R&D Solicitor Consultant in providing a dedicated legal service to colleagues throughout Christie Research. It will also involve close liaison with external organisations, in particular, funding bodies, other NHS organisations, academic institutions and companies engaged in the development of pharmaceutical or other medical products.
The main focus of the role will be contracting arrangements needed to support clinical trials and other research projects, especially research sponsored by the Trust. The post holder will also provide or modify standard templates for research activities. There will be a need, on occasion, to provide advice to colleagues more widely throughout the Trust.
The role sits in the R&D Office and reports to the R&D Solicitor Consultant. The team in the office is friendly, supportive and dynamic but the work can be challenging. The post holder will need strong personal skills to both perform their role and ensure that the interests of the Trust are promoted.
