We are recruiting an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced Nurse Clinician to work at our Satellite Radiotherapy Centre in Oldham.
You need to be self-motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic and a team player. The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is a highly specialised oncology treatment centre and patient presentations can vary from acute to chronic in nature. This role requires excellent skills in communication, ability to perform physical examination, order and interpret diagnostics, consider differential diagnoses to support medical management/ treatment plan, and be confident to implement appropriate treatment. You should be able to make appropriate referrals to support the patient’s well-being and support carers where necessary
Patients attend The Christie at Oldham for both radical and palliative radiotherapy to a wide range of tumours. You will need to be a confident and experienced practitioner who is able to work autonomously, as well as within a close team. You will ideally have oncology and or palliative care experience and will also have the necessary skills to react to, and manage acute/emergency situations. You will be a key member of the medical team, which also includes a Specialty Doctor, Nurse Clinician and a Review Radiographer and at times work with no direct senior supervision or support. You will be responsible for the clinical training and development of the support workers and will also support some aspects of radiographer training. Educated to or currently studying towards a Masters Level degree in Advanced practice or Clinical Practice you will be enthusiastic to develop the service through changes, audit/ research and policy development. You must already have completed a module in Clinical Examinations skills and a Non-Medical Prescribing Course and using both skill sets within clinical practice.
For those applicants who have not completed their MSc as stated, employment at band 7 level until this is attained within a defined timeframe can be considered, if all other essential criteria is met. Non-medical prescribing is essential. Informal visits are welcomed by all applicants to gain insight into the role.
